We'll reduce the deficit
Elija on 30 Apr 2010
Oh, that's all right then!Am I the only one who is listening to the UK political parties campaigning during this general election and thinking we are doomed? Do the political parties think that the electorate are morons?
The parties are vying to be the one who can cut the budget deficit the most during the next parliament. Vying to convince us that they are the ones who's figures add up all the while every single one of them is pulling a con trick. Let me put it like this.
- You take home £1,000 every month but it costs you £1,500 every month to live.
- Every month you borrow £500 from the bank.
- After 1 year you have £6,000 of debt (without interest of course).
- This goes on for several years.
- Your bank gets concerned and tells you to sort it out.
- You tell them it's OK as within four years, you will only borrow £250 a month.
I'm waiting for the day that a Radio 4 interviewer has the bollocks to say "Yes, that's the deficit. But what are you going to do about the debt?" but I'm not holding my breath!
